Program description:

Many organizational expansions from traditional North American and English speaking markets to the European markets where English is not widely spoken necessitate knowledge of the local language. However languages cannot be learnt overnight and require extended time commitment. So the need was to first provide an initiation and appreciation of a foreign language. Moreover, using simple words and sentences in a foreign language go a long way in building relationships especially in the outsourcing context where lack of fluent communication breeds mistrust. Many associates are onsite with tight project deadlines where it is difficult to follow a long long-lasting program. Keeping these requirements in mind and to ensure maximum reach of associates across the globe, Conversant French (CONF) is designed to:

  • Provide associates with a flavor of a foreign language.

  • Learn basic words/sentences.

  • Build rapport with customers and business partners.

  • Strengthen client relationship.

Target audience:

Conversant French is mainly for international executives going onsite or sharing frequent interactions with French speaking customers but is designed in a way that suits everybody’s professional or individual requirements.

Course structure:

Conversant French is an intensive program, organized in one full day. Of course, this structure can be adapted as per the convenience of the participants.

Course content

The programs are facilitated over a presentation with interactive quizzes. In fact, the course is divided onto situational modules rolled out to provide real time experience in a given situation. For example CONF includes modules such as Greetings, Au café (In a café), Au bureau (At office), Au téléphone (Over the telephone), Au magasin (In a shop) and Dans le métro (In the metro).

Business outcomes

In a business perspective, the program permits to:

  • Introduce associates to the basics of the French language in a short period and in an interesting manner.

  • Serve as a motivation for associates to pursue French courses.

  • Epitomize the aspect of fun while learning.

After completing the course, the learners are able to:

  • Build relationships with French speaking customers and business partners by using these basic sentences in client interactions.

  • Discover and appreciate the Francophone culture.

More specifically, the learners are able to interact in French in daily conversation which means:

  • Knowing the sounds, pronunciation and characters of French language.
